Bright Curse unveil video for ‘Lady Freedom’

London hard rock three-piece Bright Curse unveil the promo clip for their song ‘Lady Freedom’, taken from latest album Before The Shore

London power trio Bright Curse, who are set to play France’s Hellfest in 2017 headlined by rock superstars Deep Purple and Aerosmith, are currently celebrating a successful year; 2016 has seen their debut full-length released to critical acclaim and a relentless touring schedule has allowed them to perform for audiences in the UK and Europe. To top it off, the band has just unveiled a video for album-opener ‘Lady Freedom’.

Regarding the video’s biker theme, guitarist and singer Romain Daut explains “I started riding and following the custom motorcycle scene a couple of years ago and discovered some of the best people in the world; some of the most badass women – and that’s what I wanted in this short film; amazing ladies saving our asses! With the help of Kingdom of Kicks in Hackney and Our Black Heart in Camden, we found those girls!”

Discussing the track Daut states “Lady Freedom was one of the first songs I wrote for the album, a song about how we should respect the opposite sex, how we should embrace the fact that men would not exist without women, how we owe them our freedom…”

“We shot everything in London. It took us three days,” explains the frontman. “That was the first time Bright Curse had to act! You’ll probably notice that it was easier for some of us than others… The video was directed by James Cox without whom nothing would have been possible; the most talented director we know, he made everything so easy and smooth!”

“It was a lot of fun and I think we have a taste for it now, freezing our balls early morning, drink nothing but coffee all day, having the neighbours ringing our bell in the afternoon because they ‘would like us to find an other place to do that’ and telling them they’ll have to live with it… I mean, I’ll play music in my fucking kitchen if I want to, right?!”

Alunah sign to Svart Records, 4th album due early 2017

We’re really happy to announce that HeviSike family members Alunah have inked a new deal with Finnish label Svart Records. You can order the band’s debut ‘Call of Avernus’ on limited edition vinyl here. Look out for a special edition re-issue of their second album ‘White Hoarhound’, with all-new artwork, later in 2016.

“For 10 years, since first coming together back in 2006, Alunah have trafficked in a blend of the earthly and the unearthly. Over the course of their three albums – 2010’s Call of Avernus, 2012’s White Hoarhound and 2014’s Awakening the Forest – the four-piece have been a constant force of progression into an individualised take on psychedelic and organic heft. Their material has never lacked structure or groove, but with the melodic vocals of guitarist Sophie Day ever at the fore, they keep an eye toward the ethereal as well.

As they always do, Alunah are moving forward. Sophie, guitarist David Day, bassist Daniel Burchmore and drummer Jake Mason have now signed to Svart Records for the early 2017 release of their fourth album, yet untitled, and are set to record in September with Chris Fielding (Conan) at Skyhammer Studio, also owned by Conan’s Jon Davis.

Following in the footsteps of Svart alums Hexvessel and Jess and the Ancient Ones, Alunah arrive at the label preceded by a reputation for blending nature worship and heavy vibes with a grace that few can match, basking in a sun-soaked spirit of beauty and decay, folklore and deeply personal expression.
“Svart are a label that I have followed for a long time, they introduced me to some of the music I listen to the most, in particular Hexvessel and Jess and The Ancient Ones. As a band we feel very honoured to form part of their rich heritage, and are excited to be starting a new chapter on such a well respected and diverse label.” vocalist & guitarist Sophie Day comments on the recent signing.

Look for them to expand their sonic palette with a brand new album, set to be released in early 2017 on Svart Records, and see them build on what they’ve accomplished before in their rich, engaging sound that seems to be always wandering and never, ever lost.”
